New Years photolution -365 days of photos 2010

My goal to take at least one picture a day until 2011 - A daily reminder that every day is important.
My friend Tammy encouraged me to do this last year. It is a new year...new beginning, changes, growth and joys! Wish me luck and check it out...once in a while

01/12/10 Thrift store treasures.

I have been struggling with my depression again. I am not in school, lacking an art space and it's winter time= SAD. I also have gained holiday weight which is not helping this dark cloud. I reached out to my dear friends and am encouraged to move forward. The ways I cope with my blue's is not always the healthiest but I did find some relief at the thrift store. I could spend hours in a thrift store..and Target. This little whole in the wall thrift store is tucked in a corner next to Henry's. It smells like a dusty cedar treasure chest. I love the search...finding the castway diamond. I would of loved to take home these old dolls except for their price and the idea of skin cells stuck to them. ewww I know. I did gather clothes that seemed to be dropped off by an older woman who has a shopping problem. I wanted to thank her for working on her issues and being the same size as me. I bought 6 old navy tank tops with tags still atached for .50 cents each. Charm bracelt pieces for .15 each and much more. I spent 45.oo :) but I will sell some back to flashbacks. Use the jewelry to make necklaces for my "born-again vintage line". The tanks I am altering and hope to sell them too. Temporal happiness is better than a day full of pain.

01/11/10 Gold Metal- well it's bronze but it still counts as gold.

I was feeling stressed out about only picking one picture for my photodiary. The I realized that it was my idea and my rules. So there! Lily received an award at school. The sun was shining in all of our eyes but the faces of each awarded child shined brighter. Lily's award was for citizenship and artistic accomplishment. Yeah she is so creative...like me.

01/10/10 Their world
Sunday morning I woke up to giggles. As I peaked in on Lily and Josiah I found their secret world. They made a fort and were playing (NICELY) together. I had to take a picture of their wonderful messy room. I remeber making forts when James and I shared a room. We had bunk beds and we would drag in chairs to drape sheets and blankets over them. That night we let Josiah sleep in his tent even though the next day was a school day. They are only kids once.

01/10/10 Shadow Play

We watched Hook early this morning. Lily had Hailey over to spend the night. We went to pick up Nicole at orchestra practice and watched a suzuki violin class. The class was ages 2-10. The teacher was very sweet and did not allow any talking in her class unless she asked a question. I guess it's bad enough to hear a poor note on the violin in addition to whinny kids. AS the girls played in the court yard their shadows danced around them. I brought out my camera and ask them to pose. The heart was my idea and Lily's was the second shot. They created the sign for-CONNECTED, RELATIONSHIP, TOGETHERNESS, CLOSE FRIENDSHIP. This would make Peter Pan proud too.

01/09/10 Rockstars

Friday night Tony and I went to a comedy club that serves Greek food. All of the comics had gotten their start from San Diego. I laughed so hard that my throat hurt afterward. It all seemed hilarious and shockingly funny until I thought of how much they used nasty words. Those seemed to stick in my head more then some of their jokes. I needed a brain bath. We went home and played Rock Band with Leanna, Sharee, And Kat who were "babysitting" the kids. They were all awake when we came home at 10:30. oh well, once the munchkins were in bed we rocked out. Our neighbor...(would be crazy cat lady if her son wasn't allergic) knocked on our door asking for quiet. I asked her if she wanted to join in. She tried to force a smile and left. If you have been to our house you will know why I am using air freshner. It's only natural.

01/08/10 Spa Day and Magazine love

I get excited to go to an appointment and sit down because I can look through magazines. Pretty colors and pictures, satin pages, the new print smell with subtle perfume, recipes, and free advice. I often times rip out pages of those magazines..(I have the cough trick) and stick it in my purse hopefully before I am called in. I have my own subscriptions for two magazines right now Elle Decor and my favorite Somerset studios-paper art magazine. I was looking through a bridal magazine for Leanna and I found this feather flower bouquet and bird pillow. Since I am doing this picture thing i shot it instead of stealing it. I was also drinking a chilled glass of white wine before my massage. The massage was for over an hour and it was delicious. If I could get a massage like this at least twice a month I think I would be happy. It is a test worth taking.
01/07/10 Mimzy kisses

Today we rescued a new friend for Honey. It was a surprise to both Honey and my Honey. So far they are not friends. Nimzy is sweet and a little sketchy. This is a picture of their first meeting. She was neglected by a little rich girl who "got over" the furry pet. The family had no idea how to take care of it and were feeding her the worse stuff. Fingers crossed she will acclimate to her new home and roomate.

Lily came home today and right away I noticed she had drawn all over herself. She was so excited to show me that it was body crayons. I felt my face frowning till she pulled up her sleeve and proudly showed me...The famous I love Mom tattoo.

1/5/2009 still got game

Jenny, Jenny, Sara and I met up at Tea N more for a Mom's night and game night. Its a fun little boba place with lots of asians playing board games. We played bananagrams. Sara showed up with a flat tire. Jenny #1 said that she could change it herself. Then a civic pulls up with 4 asian boys from UCSD. They offered to help and discussed the best way to change it. They were more then willing to help until they heard the word "stroller" and realized we were all Mom's.

01/04/10

So far it's a great start to fulfilling my secret dreams. I have been wanting to sew since I could spell it. I was given this machine from my Nana about 5 years ago. It just had a tune up and I am ready to go. Laura Kim came over tonight and helped me with my bobbin issue. soooo that's it for today

01/03/10
Lily's 10th birthday! It was a total surprise to her. She walked in the door and we all waved our hands and yelled surprise! Her hands went over her mouth and her eyes lit up the room. She fell back into Tony's arm with happiness. AS she walked she signed thank you thank you thank you..like a princess addressing her loyal subjects.

01/02/10

I finally got my wish- to get sea world passes for our family. The first sat. of the month is ASL day. We met two interpreters, ran into friends from the Deaf community and walked around from 3-6. We live so close to all these whales, fish and dolphins I am sure you will see more pics from here soon.

Jan 1, 2010

well this photo is minutes before the countdown. I think it is okay to post since it was 2010 in other places around the world. ;) We were hanging out at the Kasa house...aka the Deaf foster home playing games like nerts, scrabble, and other games that I don't know. The best part was watching Lisa, Kamisha, Tony and some of the brave kids to try and guess nasty flavors of jellybellies....boogers, moldy cheese, tooth paste and skunks were my favorites...to watch.

January 1 New years day,
We went to the Kika's house (my mama) because James and Daniella came down from LA for a visit. It was the first time seeing them since they got married in Hawaii. We had a great ham dinner and laughed till our heads hurt while playing Apples to Apples. My batteries died so I only have 3 pictures from that day. Obviously my mom took pictures too.
